Hot Springs in South Australia

South Australia's hot springs are concentrated in the state's remote outback, fed by the same Great Artesian Basin that supplies much of inland Australia. Dalhousie Springs, in Witjira National Park near the Simpson Desert, is one of the largest and most accessible natural artesian springs in the country and a popular stop for travellers heading into the desert. Coward Springs, on the historic Old Ghan railway line near Lake Eyre, combines artesian bathing with a heritage-listed campground built around the old railway siding. Clayton Station Artesian Spa and Paralana Hot Springs, near Arkaroola in the Flinders Ranges, round out the state's offering with station-based and naturally occurring thermal water in genuinely remote settings.
